Ars Longa, Vita Brevis

In the spirit of yesterday’s post, let’s start off the New Year with a bit of wisdom from Hippocrates:

Life is short,
art long,
opportunity fleeting,
experiment dangerous,
judgment difficult.

I’m pretty sure he was thinking about the Large Hadron Collider.

Judgement is not difficult for many. They judge others without knowledge and it doesn’t bother them in the least. But maybe Hippocrates didn’t know about Hypocrisy 🙂

Either the LHC or Tiger Woods.

if he was contemplating the LHC than surely that was Nostradamus, not Hippocrates

I hope ARJ’s thread is not at all prophetic. The Greek for the third line speaks of PEIRA SPHALERE, which is more literally “attempts are likely to fail”.
