(I&#8217;ll even forgive him for calling us <a href=\"http:\/\/pharyngula.org\/index\/weblog\/comments\/they_can_quantify_that\/\">nerds<\/a>; backstory at <a href=\"http:\/\/majikthise.typepad.com\/majikthise_\/2005\/12\/slutometer.html\">Majikthise<\/a>.)  Upshot:  scientists need to be outspoken, convincing, and relentless in simultaneously persuading and educating the public.
