Biologist?  Philosopher?  Dude, get serious.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>1. Meteorologist<\/strong><br \/>\nStudies the physical characteristics, motions and processes of the earth&#8217;s atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p><strong>16. Medical Laboratory Technician<\/strong><br \/>\nConducts routine laboratory tests and analyses used in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of disease.<\/p>\n<p><strong>17. Or a parole officer.  Whichever.<\/p>\n<p>And here are the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.careercast.com\/jobs\/content\/JobsRated_10WorstJobs\">worst jobs<\/a>, of course:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>1. Lumberjack<\/strong><br \/>\nFells, cuts, and transports timber to be processed into lumber, paper, and other wood products.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Dairy Farmer<\/strong><br \/>\nDirects and takes part in activities involved in the raising of cattle for milk production.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Taxi Driver<\/strong><br \/>\nOperates a taxi cab over the streets and roads of a municipality, picking up and dropping off passengers by request.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Seaman<\/strong><br \/>\nMay perform any number of tasks involved in the operation of ships, boats, barges, or dredges.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Emergency Medical Technician<\/strong><br \/>\nAttends to situations which demand immediate medical attention, such as automobile accidents, heart attacks, and gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Roofer<\/strong><br \/>\nInstalls roofs on new buildings, performs repairs on old roofs, and re-roofs old buildings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. Garbage Collector<\/strong><br \/>\nCollects refuse on a designated municipal route, and transports trash to disposal plants or landfill areas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. Welder<\/strong><br \/>\nJoins or repairs metal surfaces through the application of heat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9. Roustabout<\/strong><br \/>\nPerforms routine physical labor and maintenance on oil rigs and pipelines, both on and off shore.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10. Ironworker<\/strong><br \/>\nRaises the steel framework of buildings, bridges, and other structures.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Interestingly, dangerous and low-paying jobs involving a great deal of manual labor seem to come in below the glamorous and largely sedentary lifestyle of a typical academic.
