(Have you heard about it?)  Election Day is Tuesday, November 4.  It&#8217;s time to register to vote.  The Obama campaign has set up a great tool that let&#8217;s you figure out whether you are already registered, and if not, prints out a form you can mail in to do so:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voteforchange.com\/\">Register to Vote<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It works for Republicans, too!  Even Republicans who want to vote for a Republican this time around, although those are <a href=\"http:\/\/tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2008\/09\/obama_maintains_big_lead_in_to.php\">increasingly scarce<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you think this election is important, you can go even further and donate money.  Ad buys are crucial, of course, but get-out-the-vote efforts will be equally important, and they don&#8217;t come cheap.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/donate.barackobama.com\/page\/contribute\/standardvidbottom?source=mainnav\">Barack Obama<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/secure.donationreport.com\/donation.html?key=NPM2A9KUXS0J\">John McCain<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are also various <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States_presidential_election,_2008#Third_party_and_independent_candidates\">third party candidates<\/a>.  Sadly, the Socialist Workers Party has nominated R\u00f3ger Calero, who was born in Nicaragua, and is therefore ineligible to be President.  If he wins, it will be quite the constitutional crisis!<\/p>\n<p>For those who can&#8217;t make it to a polling station on Election Day, deadlines are very fast approaching for absentee voting.  Start here:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.longdistancevoter.org\/\">Long Distance Voters<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Note that there&#8217;s nothing stopping you from absentee voting even if you could vote in person on Election Day; if you&#8217;re feeling motivated right now but might be lazy on November 4, why not vote right away?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For American citizens, there is a Presidential election fast approaching.
