Rather, this provocative statement &#8212; the discoveries of science should be disturbing, they shouldn&#8217;t simply provide gentle reassurance about our place in the universe &#8212; is the conclusion reached by my <a href=\"http:\/\/bloggingheads.tv\/diavlogs\/12123\">latest Bloggingheads dialogue, with David Albert<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href='http:\/\/bloggingheads.tv\/diavlogs\/12123'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovermagazine.com\/cosmicvariance\/files\/uploads\/seanc-davida-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"center\" \/><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/David_Albert\">David<\/a> is a philosopher of science at Columbia, author of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Time-Chance-David-Z-Albert\/dp\/0674011325\/\"><em>Time and Chance<\/em><\/a> as well as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Quantum-Mechanics-Experience-David-Albert\/dp\/0674741137\/\"><em>Quantum Mechanics and Experience<\/em><\/a>.  We talked about what philosophers of science do, the awful <em>What the Bleep Do We Know?<\/em> movie, string theory and falsifiability, and touched on time before running out thereof.
