After <a href=\"http:\/\/twistedphysics.typepad.com\/cocktail_party_physics\/2006\/09\/talk_like_a_phy.html\">years<\/a> of contemplation, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.talklikeaphysicist.com\/\">Talk Like a Physicist Day<\/a> is finally here, as <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovermagazine.com\/cosmicvariance\/2008\/02\/22\/talk-like-a-physicist-day\/\">predicted<\/a>.  (Falsifiably!)<\/p>\n<p>Even the <a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/pharyngula\/2008\/03\/frictionfree_morning.php\">biologists<\/a> are celebrating (intentionally or not), learning the joys of frictionless surfaces.  And some handy <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.scienceforums.net\/swansont\/archives\/114\">reference guides<\/a> have been provided.<\/p>\n<p>There is also a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/event.php?eid=21808140401&amp;ref=mf\">Facebook group<\/a>, which I mention so that I can quote the comment left there by Phillip Fernandez:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Wow, this is like being in the ground state of a harmonic oscillator potential. It just doesn&#8217;t get any lower than this.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That&#8217;s the spirit!  On ordinary days, you would goof off by playing video games; but today, you can goof off by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.referencegames.com\/\">simulating special relativity<\/a>.  (Inspired by <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovermagazine.com\/cosmicvariance\/2006\/12\/26\/the-physics-of-imaginary-things\/\">this post<\/a>, I am reliably informed.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.referencegames.com\/\"><img class='center' src='http:\/\/blogs.discovermagazine.com\/cosmicvariance\/files\/uploads\/relativistic-asteroids.jpg' alt='relativistic asteroids' \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And today, instead of getting stuck in traffic, just tell your boss you were <a href=\"http:\/\/3quarksdaily.blogs.com\/3quarksdaily\/2008\/03\/shockwave-traff.html\">captured in a compression wave<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m sure you don&#8217;t need much more inspiration than that.
