All the cool kids are doing it.<\/p>\n<p>Steinn Sigur\u00f0sson is an astrophysicst at Penn State, with a new blog called <a href=\"http:\/\/catdynamics.blogspot.com\/\">Dynamics of Cats<\/a>.  He already has some good posts up on the crucial question of how to become an astrophysicist:  <a href=\"http:\/\/catdynamics.blogspot.com\/2005\/03\/so-you-want-to-be-astrophysicist-part_15.html\">Part 0<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/catdynamics.blogspot.com\/2005\/03\/so-you-want-to-be-astrophysicist-part_17.html\">Part 1.5<\/a>.  Okay, so he&#8217;s an astrophysicist, not a mathematician. <\/p>\n<p>I should also point you to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pyracantha.com\/cgi-bin\/blosxom.cgi\/2005\/03\/05#EB118VectorWorld\">Electron Blue<\/a>, where Pyracantha explains how your world-view changes when you begin to think in terms of vectors. I would describe it as a shift from Aristotelian to Galilean intuition &#8212; the world is a different place once you&#8217;ve internalized the conservation of momentum. Quantum mechanics is another shift entirely.<\/p>\n<p>And another thing:  as mentioned in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.haloscan.com\/comments\/seancarroll\/111145611769925225\/#106709\">comments<\/a> to the previous post, Kriston at Grammar.police found some great <a href=\"http:\/\/grammarpolice.net\/archives\/000602.php\">negatively-curved spaces<\/a>, made of yarn.
