Speaking of video goodness, we’d be remiss not to remind everyone that Sunday is the premiere of Phil Plait’s new mini-series on Discovery, Bad Universe.
It will be a lot like Armageddon, with Phil instead of Bruce Willis in the role of the balding hero figure. And science instead of complete nonsense. Improvements all around!
Are you implying Armageddon was less than accurate? I was willing to accept all the asteroid stuff, but the idea that Liv Tyler grew on an oil derrick . . . I can only suspend my belief so far.

shoulde be better than “Ice Road Truckers,” or “Monster Quest-Killer Chimps in America,” on History Channel.
@onelegggoalie Perhaps, but “Ice Road Truckers” probably will have better science!
This looks excellent… I hope this will be shown in the UK.
And no life ……..is the statement and you call this science, twelve major hit’s and life
remains, and the humongous hole complete nonsense, a hole with more than thousand miles across?
a direct hit of a hundred mile meteor….? aahh…
Improvements all around…where?

A huge improvement on the usual Discovery Channel programming, but it seems that the Apophis threat was exaggerated somewhat: it is now know to be extremely unlikely to hit us in the near (several decades) future. Overall good job Phil P., I must say my whole family enjoyed it.
